Buffalo Sabres Player Grades: Game #12 at Islanders

A+ : David Legwand, Matt Moulson

Legwand made a difference every time he was on the ice. He was playing physical throughout the game. Legwand made a perfect pass to Reinhart on the go ahead goal in the 3rd period. He was on the ice in the final minute when the Sabres had the lead as well.

Moulson battled to get his goal, wacking at the puck multiple times, before going hard into the boards behind the net. He, like his line mates, controlled the puck most of the time they were on the ice.

A : Linus Ullmark, Sam Reinhart, Jamie McGinn, Zemgus Girgensons

Ullmark was tremendous. The Sabres started off flat, and Ullmark kept them in the game. The goal he allowed in the 2nd period was because he was trying to stand up during a scramble. If just got up into a butterfly he probably makes the save, but past that he was flawless stopping 29 of 30 shots.

A- : Jake McCabe, Cody Franson, Ryan O'Reilly, Brian Gionta, Josh Gorges

This was Gionta's best game of the season. He has looked like he's still hurt to me so far this season. Against the Isles I didn't see that at all. Gionta was flying. Skating incredibly well, and using it to finish hits. He got an assist on Moulson's goal. He also fired five shots on goal.

B+ : Rasmus Ristolainen, Nicolas Deslauriers

B : Mark Pysyk, Carlo Colaiacovo

Pysyk and Colaiacovo were inconsistent shift by shift, and it's more on Colaiacovo.

B- : Johan Larsson, Marcus Foligno, Tyler Ennis

Ennis didn't create enough offense to warrant a higher grade.

C+ : Jack Eichel

Eichel wasn't horrible by any means, but he was average. His line was on the ice on multiple occasions, when the Islanders buzzed around and created a lot of their chances. On the offensive end he created very little.
