Evander Kane out 4-6 weeks. Sabres call up Tim Schaller

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

With Evander Kane out with a knee injury and Marcus Foligno out with an undisclosed injury, the Sabres have recalled Tim Schaller from the Rochester Americans.

Foligno was practicing on Monday, but we still don't the nature or timetable for his return to game action. Kane was not practicing, and while we've had no updates on his knee he did tweet about it after the game.

Tim Schaller has been playing on the top line in Rochester with Dan Catenacci and Jerry D'Amigo. In six games, Schaller has just 1 goal and 1 assist. It's interesting that a guy like Jason Akeson did not get the recall, as he already has 3 goals and 3 assists. Schaller fits better on a 4th line, which is the role he'll likely play if called upon.

To replace Schaller the Amerks recalled former RIT star Matt Garbowsky from the ECHL.
