Final Sabres Line Predictions

With training camp officially under way in Buffalo for the Sabres, here is the final predictions for the Sabres lineup heading into the 2015-16 season. Just want to say what a fun run it was. Especially in February when we were preparing for life at pick #3. Glad the tank overcame and endured. Enjoy Sabres fans!

Line 1

LW- Tyler Ennis

C- Ryan O'Reilly

RW- Evander Kane

If it were up to me I would be putting Eichel at center with O'Reilly on the wing. However Bylsma does not want to put the pressure on Eichel early on especially with the minutes he would be getting with the first team unit. Kane and Ennis present a wide variety of unique talent. A combo of speed an physicality surrounds this first line.

Line 2

LW- Matt Moulson

C- Jack Eichel

RW- Sam Reinhart

I believe Sam Reinhart is a center. However with Girgensons as the better fit on a third unit at center, Reinhart will have to grow on the right side for now. It will be a very interesting combination with the young franchise players teaming up with a savvy veteran in Matt Moulson. Expect Eichel to hook up with Moulson on a lot of scoring chances this season. Their talents complement each other a great deal. This line could end up being the most effective of any. Eventually however, Reinhart will be the number two center when Eichel moves up to the top unit. For now it will be fun to see the two keys to the Sabres playing together.

Line 3

LW- Brian Gionta

C- Zemgus Girgensons

RW- Jamie Mcginn

Assuming that Bylsma keeps Girgensons at center, expect Zemgus to center veteran wingers Brian Gionta who manage to have a solid season in the "tank year", and Jamie Mcginn who is coming over in the trade with the Avalanche. This can be the shut down third unit that the Sabres have been missing. However I do not expect either winger to be with this team for much longer (see Hudson Fasching, Nick Baptiste, Justin Bailey, etc).

Line 4

LW- Nicolas Deslauriers

Center- Johan Larsson

RW- Marcus Foligno

This is the ultimate shut down line. It has a three young forwards who not only possess shut down defensive skills and the ability to knock around opposing skaters, but all three have underrated offensive ability. Just look at Larsson who played on the first line last season with Tyler Ennis an Matt Moulson. Larsson was the only forward on the Sabres to have an even plus minus. I see Larsson beating out untalented veterans like David Legwand and Cody McCormick. Easy decision here. If Legwand ever plays it is because of the money he is making. Expect a buyout on that situation.

Defense Pair 1

Rasmus Ristolainen

Zach Bogosian

Defense Pair 2

Josh Gorges

Cody Franson

Defense Pair 3

Mike Weber

Mark Pysyk

There is a lot of optimism with this young Sabres roster. Dan Bylsma has a very intriguing situation on his hands with possible line combinations.

Thanks for stopping in.
