According to TSN's Bob McKenzie Cody Franson is currently in Buffalo and preparing to sign a 2 year, $6.6 million deal.

Franson is thought by most to be a very underrated defenseman. He'll step right in to a top four role and allow Mark Pysyk and Jake McCabe to have less pressure to be productive right away. Franson will step in as the team's best power play defenseman as well.

Franson can even jump up to the top pairing. With Ristolainen still only being 20, and only Josh Gorges and Zach Bogosian in contention to be on the top pairing, Franson could jump in.

The $3.3 million per year is a steal. The term is perfect for the Sabres so that they do not have Franson on the books when they need to sign their young stars as well.
