Travis Konecny: Prospect Profile

The Sabres are going into the 2015 draft with two first round picks.  The first one is 100% Jack Eichel, the second is less certain.  One of the players Buffalo should look at is F Travis Konecny.  Konecny played for the Ottawa 67's in the OHL and served as their captain this past season.  He is a versatile forward that can play both center and wing.  He is a right-handed shot and is a little small in stature (5'10" 172 lbs).  He makes up for it with his great hockey IQ and superb stick handling.

The talent level of this draft is so great that Konecny could at least fall close enough to the Sabres that they'd be able to trade up for him or even fall to them completely at 21.  He's been a model of consistency at the junior level with 70 points in his first year and 68 in his second.  He could probably use another year or two developing at that level before making the NHL, but that shouldn't be any reason to overlook this talented player with great leadership abilities.  Konecny could be a great asset to the Buffalo Sabres organization.
